El Gobierno de la República Cooperativa de Guyana ha tomado nota de la medida adoptada hoy, 3 de abril de 2024, por el Presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela de promulgar "la ley Orgánica para la Defensa de la Guayana Esequiba".

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali held bilateral discussions with a 12-member delegation from the United States at State House today.

The meeting discussed several areas, including energy, food, and climate security.

The US delegation included Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US Representative to the United Nations; US Ambassador to Guyana Nicole Theriot; and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Energy Resources Laura Lochman.

President Ali was joined by Prime Minister Brigadier the Honorable Mark Phillips, Vice President the Honorable Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, other Members of the Cabinet, Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud and other government functionaries.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali, while in Saint Lucia for its 45th Independence Anniversary celebrations, held a meeting with Guyanese living on the island.

During the engagement, His Excellency highlighted Guyana’s development agenda, including the Government’s programme to attract skilled workers, economic diversification, initiatives to improve education, healthcare, and infrastructure, and several of Guyana’s social welfare programmes.

President Ali also spent time responding to questions from the diaspora community.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali praised the strong and enduring bond between Guyana and Saint Lucia, emphasizing that their relationship goes beyond trade and economy, describing it as "unbreakable."

The Guyanese Head of State made this assertion during his address to a Special Sitting of Saint Lucia’s Parliament this morning.

During his speech, the President underscored several ways the two countries can expand cooperation and deepen bilateral relations.

President Ali is on a two-day visit to the island at the invitation of Prime Minister Philip Pierre to celebrate Saint Lucia’s 45th Independence Anniversary.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali has arrived in St Lucia today to attend the island's 45th Independence Anniversary celebrations, which are scheduled for tomorrow.

As a special guest, the Guyanese Head of State will deliver a speech at St Lucia's Parliament later today.

He is also expected to interact with St Lucia’s private sector.
