The Department of International Cooperation has responsibility for promoting Guyana’s interests with its development partners, at the bilateral, multilateral individual levels through mutually beneficial partnerships, and active cooperation programs in the various Technical Cooperation areas. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Projects
  • Training
  • Capacity building
  • Scholarships
  • Accessing expertise from development partners
  • Accessing equipment
  • Convening joint commissions

This is achieved through systematic facilitation, cooperation, and collaboration with a wide cross-section of Ministries, Agencies, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, Academic Institutions, and individuals in Guyana, in the quest to meet and overcome the increasing challenges of efficient and effective development.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the discharge of its mandate to promote the interests of Guyana within the international community, is committed to preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to contributing to the economic and social development of the Guyanese people. The Ministry is equally committed to promoting the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, maintaining active relationships with the diplomatic community through skilled, dedicated diplomatic and administrative staff, and ensuring effective utilisation of its financial and material resources.
