Lyrics
(VERSE ONE)
As One People One Nation One Destiny
We won’t bend a knee They can’t conquer we
To protect our land is the golden key Cherish it like the air we breathe
With respect to the Arbitral Award 1899 Signed and verified
Facts you can’t deny
Still they want to try conquer and divide…
No way No way
Dear land of Guyana my home I’ll protect you
With my heart and soul
Even when they try to come take our lands
We’ll stand firm like the trees in the forest that grow
Love our neighbors Let good vibes flow
So why would they wanna take Essequibo One of three counties we value the most So please listen up the answer is no
(BRIDGE)
Hold up step back We ready now Dedication non stop We ready now
Stay focused on top We ready now
So before you make a move just think it over
(CHORUS)
This land is my own Guyana
Our country our home Guyana
We won’t give it up no Guyana
Standing together as one we’ll take a strong hold
Step by step we grow Guyana
Our country our home Guyana
We won’t give it up no Guyana
So before you make a move just think it over This land is my home
(SECOND VERSE)
This land is my home Yeah yeah (Harmonizing)
Ohhh yeah
This land is my home
Why you wanna break our culture It’s like taking a child from its mother
We live in peace and harmony
One people one nation one destiny so don’t bother A land of six different races
Lush green forests & six different faces Home to the majestic Kaieteur falls
We will unify and stand tall
(BRIDGE)
Hold up step back We ready now Dedication non stop We ready now
Stay focused on top We ready now
So before you make a move just think it over
(CHORUS)
This land is my own Guyana
Our country our home Guyana
We won’t give it up no Guyana
Standing together as one we’ll take a strong hold
Step by step we grow Guyana
Our country our home Guyana
We won’t give it up no Guyana
So before you make a move just think it over This land is my home
THIRD VERSE
Speech: “In the year 1899 the Arbitral Award was the result of a legitimate process which had settled the land boundary dispute between British Guiana and Venezuela
However, after more than 115 years after such an agreement Venezuela is claiming our Essequibo.
They have resorted to acts of intimidation, seizure of land and claims to Guyana’s maritime territory to break our will.
But we remain undaunted! With the decision of the United Nations Secretary- General that the International Court of Justice must be the choice to settle the controversy, we await the binding decision.”
(CHORUS)
This land is my own Guyana
Our country our home Guyana
We won’t give it up no Guyana
Standing together as one we’ll take a strong hold
Step by step we grow Guyana
Our country our home Guyana
We won’t give it up no Guyana
So before you make a move just think it over This land is my home
(Repeat Chorus Twice Then Outro)
