GUYANA RECEIVES HUMANITARIAN AWARD FROM BARBADOS

His Excellency Dr Irfaan Ali today received the Humanitarian Plaque, which was awarded to the Government of Guyana on behalf of the Government of Barbados for assistance in the fight against Covid-19.

The Humanitarian Plaque was initially received by Acting Consul General of Guyana in Barbados, Ms Geneva Tyndall (in photo), on Thursday, April 28, at the Government of Barbados inaugural Humanitarian Award Ceremony held at the Kensington Oval on Heroes Day.

MINISTER TODD MEETS WITH PRIME MINISTER MODI

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, earlier today met with His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2022.

Minister Todd was joined by other Foreign Ministers who paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister.

Minister Todd and the Foreign Ministers of Argentina, Madagascar, Norway, The Netherlands, Portugal, Philippines and Slovenia among others, are participating in the 7th Raisina Dialogue.

MINISTER TODD MEETS WITH IRISH AMBASSADOR

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today received a courtesy call from His Excellency Seán Hoy, Non-Resident Ambassador of Ireland to Guyana.

The two sides discussed the upcoming Ministerial visit to Guyana in June 2022, and several areas of mutual interest between Guyana and Ireland, among which included, climate change, agriculture, and diaspora engagement.

PRESIDENT ALI MEETS WITH US SENATOR DODD TO DISCUSS OAS SUMMIT

President Dr Irfaan Ali met virtually with former United States Senator, Chris Dodd and NSC Senior Director for the Western Hemisphere Juan S. Gonzalez, today, to discuss the agenda of the Organisation of American States (OAS) Summit of the Americas 2022 that will be held in Los Angeles in June.

Dodd is serving as a special advisor to the President Joe Biden government for the upcoming summit and is expected to be joined by former US Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell as part of the US delegation for the event.

MINISTER TODD RECEIVES COURTESY CALL FROM AMBASSADOR- DESIGNATE OF THE PHILIPPINES

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today received a courtesy call from His Excellency Mario Fontanilla Chan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary-designate of the Republic of the Philippines to Guyana.

The two sides discussed efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and enhance cooperation between Guyana and the Phillippines.

PRESIDENT ALI ACCEPTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM AMBASSADOR OF THE PHILIPPINES

His Excellency Dr Irfaan Ali, today, accepted the Letters of Credence from H.E Mario Chan as the Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Guyana.

During the accreditation ceremony, President Ali said that Guyana and the Philippines share many ideals which provide the scope for enhanced bilateral relations in key areas, including agriculture.

MINISTER TODD RECIEVES COURTESY CALL FROM VENEZUELAN AMBASSADOR- DESGINATE

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today received a courtesy call from His Excellency Carlos Amador Perez Silva, Ambassador-designate of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Guyana.

The Ambassador-designate emphasized his Government’s commitment to friendly relations and strong bilateral ties with Guyana.

NATIONAL DAY OF FASTING AND PRAYER

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today joined in the observance of the National day of Fasting and Prayer.

Ambassador Elisabeth Harper, Permanent Secretary, Mr. Khemraj Singh, and Ms. Zamiroon Ali led the members of staff in prayers. Minister Todd took the opportunity to urge staff to use the day as one of reflection and mediation as we strive to achieve a “One Guyana” for all.
