PRESS RELEASE || The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on December 19, 2024, met with His Excellency Mr. Carlos Amador Perez Silva, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Guyana.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd , Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today attended theTwenty-first Special Meeting of the Council For Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), held on the sidelines of the Eight CARICOM-Japan Foreign Ministers Meeting in Tokyo, Japan.

The Meeting was chaired by the Honourable Dr. Vince Henderson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy of Dominica. During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers engaged in discussions aimed towards advancing CARICOM foreign relations

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Political Consultations on Issues of Mutual Interest between the Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and the Government of the State of Qatar.

GUYANA SUBMITS REPLY TO VENEZUELA’S COUNTER-MEMORIAL IN CASE BEFORE THE

INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, yesterday received a farewell courtesy call from Her Excellency Guo Haiyan, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Guyana.

During the meeting, Minister Todd and the Ambassador reflected on her tenure and support to the Government and people of Guyana that enhanced the ties between the two countries which led to the further consolidation of the bilateral relations between Guyana and China.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today had a virtual introductory meeting with Baroness Jennifer Chapman, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today met with Her Excellency Ms. Liselle Blankendal, Ambassador of Suriname to Guyana.

During the meeting, Minister Todd outlined Guyana's national policy framework that addresses the provision of social services including education and healthcare and existing infrastructure to facilitate humanitarian support and other emergency relief services, to remote communities within Guyana's territory.

His Excellency Dr. Compton Bourne, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to Brazil on November 14, 2024, presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula DaSilva , President of the Republic of Brazil at the Palácio do Planalto, Brasilia, Brazil.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today received a courtesy call from His Excellency Mr. Anders Bengtcén, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Guyana.

During the meeting, Minister Todd and the Ambassador discussed areas geared towards advancing the bilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, including trade and security.
