President Dr. Irfaan Ali and U.S. Congressman Rick Crawford discussed potential collaboration between Guyana and Arkansas in areas such as agriculture, education, and private sector investment during a meeting at the Office of the President.

Dr Ali also spoke about the strong relations between Guyana and the US and Guyana’s pursuit of becoming a regional leader in energy security.

Congressman Crawford was presented with a signed cricket bat by the President.

Also, present at the meeting were Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Omar Khan and Commissioner of Police (ag) Clifton Hicken.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali toured the Chengdu Ronsheng Pharmaceutical Company-an affiliate of the China National Pharmaceutical Group Co. Ltd (Sinopharm), today.

Established in March 1997, Chengdu Rongsheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. mainly produces three types of blood products, namely albumin, immunoglobulin and coagulation factors, which use human plasma as raw materials, as well as genetically engineered recombinant blood products.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali was given a guided tour of the Chengdu Museum in China's Sichuan province, yesterday.

Established in 1958, Chengdu Museum is by far the largest comprehensive city museum in Southwest China as well as a national first-class museum.

The museum covers an area of about 11,333 square meters with a total floor area of around 65,000 square meters, of which about 20,000 square meters are devoted to exhibitions.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana met with his Chinese counterpart; His Excellency Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China in Chengdu City.

The two Foreign Ministers had fruitful discussions on a number of bilateral issues, including cooperation in the multilateral system based on mutual interest and respect, support in South-South cooperation, advocacy for cause of developing countries, agriculture, housing and capacity building.

Minister Todd emphasized that China remains a strategic partner of Guyana since both countries share common interest and concerns on a wide spectrum of issues and the avenues of cooperation could be explored for the mutual benefits of the countries and citizens.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali on Friday met with Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China

The two Heads met in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province in southwest China.

During the meeting, President Ali, in his remarks, reiterated that Guyana firmly adheres to the one-China principle, noting that China has played an important role in the economic and social development of Guyana and the Caribbean region, not only by sharing its experience but also providing valuable assistance in developing infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare and other areas.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali visited the Oriental Pearl Radio & Television Tower in Shanghai.

The Head of State and his delegation were given a guided tour of the massive 1,536 feet structure that creates a picture of 'twin dragons playing with pearls.’

President Ali and a Private Sector delegation are in China for a week, during which the Head of State will meet with the country’s President, Xi Jinping and other government officials.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali, today, visited Huawei’s Shanghai Research Centre where he met with the company’s senior Vice President, Jeff Wang.

After a tour of the facility, the two officials discussed a number of areas for cooperation, including the establishment of an ICT college in Guyana and sending a technical team to assess the need of the private sector here.
