His Excellency President Dr. Irfaan Ali arrived in Doha, Qatar this morning for an Official Visit.

He was received at the Hamad International Airport by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi; Guyana’s Ambassador to Qatar, Safraz Shahood and Presidential Assistant and Personal Envoy to Greece, the Middle East and Africa, Ambassador George Hallaq.

President Ali is joined by Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh; Director of Presidential Affairs, Mrs. Marcia Nadir-Sharma and other officials.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali accepted the Letters of Credence from the new High Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Australia to Guyana, HE Sonya Koppe at State House today.

He told the High Commissioner that Guyana is aligned with many of the policies and programmes that Australia promotes and called for stronger cooperation between the two nations.

The President also stated that Guyana is undergoing a period of transformation and is building an ecosystem to support the country’s quest to become a global leader in climate, energy and food security.

The Government, he noted, is mobilising support for the country’s standing forest and will ensure that the forest plays a central role in climate change mitigation.

President Dr Irfaan Ali, this morning, engaged with Guyanese living in England at the Guyana High Commission in London.

The President outlined his government's agenda to make Guyana self-sufficient in Food, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Housing, and Energy by 2030.

Dr Ali presented a video detailing his government's plans for economic development and initiatives to develop local communities and municipalities.

He thanked the diaspora for its contributions to Guyana's development. He noted that it is an important source of investment, expertise, and ideas that could help drive the country's growth and development.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali engaged in bilateral discussions with the President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency President Paul Kagame today.

The two leaders discussed advancing government-to-government collaboration in several areas including energy, technology, health services and urbanization.

President Ali was accompanied by the High Commissioner of Guyana to the UK, HE Dr Rajendra Singh.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London, England today.

The areas of discussion included the efforts being made by the Government of Guyana to modernize governance systems for improved efficiencies in services, policy formulation and the use of technology to advance these efforts.

President Ali and Mr Blair also discussed finding ways to work together in positioning Guyana as a major global player in climate, food and energy security.

The President, who is in the UK for the Coronation Ceremony of King Charles III, was joined by the High Commissioner of Guyana to the UK, Dr Rajendra Singh.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation yesterday received a courtesy call from His Excellency Manssour Bin Mussallam, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Education

The Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) was established on 29 January 2020 by a group of Latin American, Caribbean, African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Pacific Island countries at the International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education (BIE) held in January 2020. It was an initiative of countries of the South to advance progress in the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 to "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all."

Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is meeting with Carlos Alberto Velastegui, Non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ecuador to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana

Ambassador Velastegui, this morning presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. Minister Todd and Ambassador Velastegui will engage in follow up discussions on advancing cooperation in areas including climate and environmental services and sustainable development, energy, food security and education.
