President,

I have the honour to deliver this statement on behalf of the A3+ members, namely, Algeria, Guyana, Mozambique and my country, Sierra Leone.

We thank Mr. Leonardo Santos Simão, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) for his comprehensive and valuable briefing.

We take note of the contribution of Ms. Levinia Addae-Mensah, Executive Director, West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP).

Explanation of position delivered on behalf of the A3+ by H.E. Pedro Comissario Afonso, Permanent Representative of Mozambique to the United Nations, following the adoption of the draft resolution on MONUSCO

Madam President,

I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of the A3+ Member States, namely Algeria, Guyana, Sierra Leone and my own country, Mozambique.

Let me begin by expressing appreciation to Sierra Leone and France for their leadership in steering the discussion on this resolution that has just been adopted.

Statement by Her Excellency Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Permanent Representative of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to the United Nations at the adoption of the United Nations Security Council Resolution on Children and Armed Conflict

President,

Guyana welcomes the adoption of the resolution on “Ensuring Sustainable Child Protection Capacity including during UN Peace Operation Transitions” which we were pleased to vote for and cosponsor. I thank the delegation of Malta for this valuable initiative that places child protection at the heart of peace operations.

I have the honor to deliver this Statement on behalf of the A3+ members, namely Guyana, Mozambique, Sierra Leone and my own country Algeria.

We wish to thank the US Presidency for scheduling this important meeting to discuss the deeply concerning situation in Sudan.

We convey our thanks to USG Tom Fletcher for giving us deep insight into the humanitarian situation on the ground.

We listened carefully to the remarks made by Ms. Shayna Lewis and Mr. Saad Bahr El Din.

I thank the Presidency of the United States for convening today's meeting. I also thank the Secretary-General, as well as Professors LeCun and Li for their insightful briefings.

Mr. President,

We are in an era of rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, a development that holds the potential to significantly enhance our global outlook.

Statement by His Excellency Ambassador Amar Bendjama, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations on behalf of the A3+ to the Security Council, at the UNSC meeting on the humanitarian and political situation in Syria

Madam President,

I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of the members of the A3+, namely Guyana, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and my own country, Algeria.

At the outset, the A3+ would like to thank Mr. Pedersen and Mr. Fletcher for their valuable briefings.

We listened carefully to the representatives of the civil society.

Madam President,

Our meeting takes place in a unique context, Syria a nation exhausted by conflict could choose the long road to peace.

1. I am honored to deliver this statement on behalf of the A3+, namely: Guyana, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and my own country Algeria.

2. We would like to expresses our sincere gratitude to Ms. Stephanie Koury, DSRSG and head of UNSMIL for her insightful briefing and update on the situation in Libya.

3. We also wish to thank Ambassador Yamazaki for his briefing on the work of the 1970 Sanctions Committee and welcome the presence of the Permanent Representative of Libya in today's meeting.
