The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation earlier today delivered remarks in the Plenary Session of the Fifty Third Regular Session Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The Honourable Minister during his remarks iterated Guyana’s leading role in advancing the CARICOM Agri-food system agenda and prioritizing food security in the region.
Minister Todd further highlighted Guyana’s co-sponsorship of the draft resolution proposed by Barbados entitled; “Towards enhanced access to climate financing,” which is tabled to be adopted at the General Assembly and noted that this resolution caters for the rebuilding of small island developing and low-lying coastal states with more fiscal space.
In closing the Minister reiterated the Government of Guyana’s commitment to the Charter and the four pillars of which the OAS is built upon and emphasized the need of staying true to the principles of the Charter in order to ensure the improvement of the lives of the people of the hemisphere.
