The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Tuesday May 23, 2023 met a team of experts from the European Union (EU) undertaking an Election Follow-up Mission to Guyana.

The team was headed by Mr. Javier Nart, Chief of Mission and Member of the European Parliament amd comprised Mr. Alexander Matus, Electoral Analyst and Ms. Anne Marlborough, a Legal Expert. The Team was accompanied by Ambassador, René Van Nes, Head of the Office of the European Union in Guyana and other officials.

The aim of the Follow-up Mission to Guyana is to assess the progress of the implementation of the recommendations outlined in the final report which was presented to the Government in 2021.

The mission will publish a final report, which will include a detailed analysis of the existing arrangements for elections in Guyana and the progress in which the recommendations by the EU Mission have been addressed.
